Ceramic vs Regular Window Tint in Houston, TX | Which Is Better?

Ceramic Window Tint vs Regular Tint

Let’s face it, Houston is a market saturated with window tint installers, it has become difficult for you to find the “right” installation facility for your vehicle.

You know what Window Tint is, but you don’t know all the differences.

Did you know up until the past 10 years, most window tint materials were dyed or metallized? Consumers want to add window tint to for privacy reasons, reduced interior temperatures, and hope to improve the overall appearance of the car, truck, or SUV as well.

Newer products have entered the market, and at higher price points. It’s important to learn about the pros and cons of each as you determine which window tint product makes the most sense for the application and your budget.

We're going to guide you on how to choose the right Window Tint for your car.

Standard Window Tint (Dyed Film)

Standard Window Tint is the most popular and least expensive type of window tint, but rather less functional. This film is primarily used for aesthetic purposes and privacy. On the exterior, dyed film looks flat and opaque, providing some privacy while still permitting visibility from the interior depending on the shade. However, dyed film will fade over time and heat rejection properties are not particularly high.

Ceramic Window Tint

Ceramic Window Tint is the most premium film in the market and is well known (particularly in Texas) for its high-heat rejection properties. While it uses the same type of sheets as regular window film, the material is coated with ceramic particles.

Ceramic Window Tint does not contain metal, dye, nor carbon, but instead a kind of ceramic particle that is both nonconductive and nonmetallic.

While invisible to the naked eye, this built-in ceramic technology provides a high performance ultraviolet (light rays that contribute to sunburn and skin cancer), solar and infrared rejection, glare rejection, while maintaining a fully non-metal construction for no signal interference for your radio, phones, and electronic devices.

The Skin Cancer Foundation highly recommends a quality Ceramic Window Tint to protect you and your vehicle’s interior.

For a higher grade Ceramic Window Tint, we carry STEK NEX Series. This specialty film uses carbon ceramic particles with graphene. NEX series was specifically designed to not only block UV but additional harmful infrared light and has the highest solar energy rejection the market has to offer.

FAQs

What is the difference between ceramic window tint and regular window tint?

Ceramic window tint uses ceramic particles to provide superior heat rejection, UV protection, and glare reduction without interfering with signals. Regular tint, on the other hand, is typically dyed and provides more basic privacy and aesthetics but offers limited heat rejection and fades over time.

Does ceramic window tint offer better heat rejection than regular window tint?

Yes, ceramic window tint provides excellent heat and infrared rejection, making it ideal for hot climates like Houston. Regular window tint offers limited heat protection and fades over time, reducing its effectiveness.

Does ceramic window tint block UV rays?

Yes, ceramic window tint provides 99% UV protection, which is highly recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation. This helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays and prevents the interior of your vehicle from fading.

Is ceramic window tint better for privacy?

Both ceramic and regular window tint provide privacy, but ceramic tint does so with the added benefit of superior heat rejection and UV protection. Regular tint may provide similar privacy but lacks the advanced features of ceramic tint.

Does ceramic window tint interfere with electronic devices?

No, ceramic window tint does not contain any metal, so it does not cause signal interference with your radio, phones, or other electronic devices, unlike some metallic tints that can interfere with signals.

How long does ceramic window tint last compared to regular window tint?

Ceramic window tint is more durable and longer-lasting than regular tint. It won't fade or degrade over time, maintaining its performance and appearance for many years, whereas regular dyed tints tend to fade and lose effectiveness.
